Borre Akkersdijk is Dutch textile designer and co-founder / creative director of textile innovation studio BYBORRE.
Akkersdijk, born in Wamel (The Netherlands), took fashion design courses at the Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC and graduated from Design Academy in 2009, whilst also working for the design and trend consultancy Studio Edelkoort based in Paris. He founded BYBORRE in October 2010, initially advising brands such as Nike and Louis Vuitton before deciding to focus exclusively on developing his now signature 3D knit fabrics. In 2012 he was named Young Designer of the Year at the Dutch Design Awards. Research into the future of fashion and integrated technology resulted in presentations in South by Southwest, Bejing Designweek and Salone del Mobile Milano and publications in Wired magazine and Fast Company Magazine.
Since then, Akkersdijk has worked on building a studio with a 3D circular knitting process developed entirely in-house with a team of specialists from all over the textile industry. This has helped to grow BYBORRE into the organization it is today.

Borre Akkersdijk is een Nederlandse textielontwerper en medeoprichter / creatief directeur van textielinnovatiestudio BYBORRE.
Akkersdijk, geboren in Wamel, Nederland, volgde cursussen modeontwerp aan het Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC en studeerde in 2009 af aan de Design Academy Eindhoven, terwijl hij daarnaast werkte bij het in Parijs gevestigde ontwerp- en trendadviesbureau Studio Edelkoort. Hij begon, wat de oprichting van BYBORRE werd in oktober 2010, aanvankelijk adviserend voor merken zoals Nike en Louis Vuitton voordat hij besloot zich uitsluitend te concentreren op de ontwikkeling van zijn nu kenmerkende 3D-gebreide stoffen. In 2012 werd hij bij de Dutch Design Awards uitgeroepen tot Young Designer of the Year. Onderzoek naar de toekomst van mode en geïntegreerde technologie resulteerde in presentaties in South by Southwest, Bejing Designweek en Salone del Mobile Milano en publicaties in Wired magazine en Fast Company Magazine.
Sindsdien heeft Akkersdijk gewerkt aan het bouwen van een studio met een geheel in eigen beheer ontwikkeld 3D rondbreiproces en een team van specialisten uit alle hoeken van de textielindustrie om BYBORRE te laten groeien tot wat het nu is.
