Iris van Herpen has radically changed the fashion industry with her mesmerizing designs. In her work, which can be characterized as sculptural and futuristic, she combines craftsmanship with technical innovation. She was the first to design clothing in 3D print, but she simultaneously still pays a lot of homage to traditional handicrafts. In developing her collections, she works closely with experts from different disciplines; architects, musicians, photographers, filmmakers and choreographers.

Working with and inspired by these different disciplines the products of Iris van Herpen are much more than just clothing: they are an expression of identity, zeitgeist, and personal emotions. She researches movement and transformation and the relationship of these two concepts with the body. Every collection she releases is based on the findings of her research. She designs from both the traditional techniques and her own knowledge, which she acquired by combining various disciplines such as biology, science, architecture, and design.
